Tory Bruno to Chair World Space Week 2027
Blue Origin's Tory Bruno has been named Honorary Chair for World Space Week 2027, which will focus on lunar exploration under the theme 'To the Moon'.
Tory Bruno, President of National Security at Blue Origin, will serve as Honorary Chair of World Space Week 2027. The World Space Week Association announced the appointment today, linking Bruno's role to the 2027 theme of 'To the Moon'.
Association President Dennis Stone called Bruno an outstanding choice. Stone stated that Bruno's career leadership has advanced launch capabilities enabling a new era of exploration, and noted that Blue Origin is a leader in lunar capability development.
"It is an honor to serve as Honorary Chair of World Space Week 2027," Bruno said. He framed establishing a lasting lunar presence as the next step toward a future where people can live and work beyond Earth. The technologies being developed today, Bruno argued, will make that future possible and inspire a new generation.
The 2027 Lunar Focus
Association Executive Director Alma Okpalefe said the Moon represents both humanity's next destination and a gateway to the future of space exploration. World Space Week 2027 will highlight the missions, technologies, and international collaborations driving the return to the Moon. The aim is to inspire global students, educators, and communities to engage with this next chapter.
World Space Week is a UN-declared celebration held annually from October 4 to 10. It is marked by thousands of events in classrooms and public venues worldwide, organized by agencies, companies, and schools. In 2025, up to 50,000 events took place across 102 countries.
Upcoming 2026 Celebration
The Association noted that World Space Week for October 4-10, 2026, is approaching. Thousands of space-related events are already planned in nearly 100 countries. The 2026 theme is "The Rocket Revolution," with former United Launch Alliance CEO John Elbon serving as its Honorary Chair.
Okpalefe invited the global space community to organize events for both years. She encouraged all organizers to list their events on the official global calendar at www.worldspaceweek.org for greater visibility. This synchronization of activities aims to achieve broader public and student impact.

The World Space Week Association, founded in 1982, is the global coordinator of the event. It is an international non-government, non-profit organization and holds permanent observer status on the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
