Jeff Janicik, founder and chairman of electronics firm Innoflight, has detailed the company's role in critical space networking infrastructure. He spoke with SpaceNews' Mike Gruss on the 'Space Minds' podcast, covering work for the Space Development Agency (SDA), NASA's Artemis program, and the Golden Dome project.

Innoflight specializes in creating the core electronics that enable communication and data processing in space. Janicik described these components as the essential "under the hood" technology for the proliferated satellite constellations now being deployed. Working with the Space Development Agency

The SDA's Tranche 0 and Tranche 1 satellite networks are a primary focus. He emphasized the need for modular, scalable architectures. This design philosophy allows for faster integration and testing. It also helps move critical capabilities to mission more rapidly. The SDA's tight development schedules make this efficiency paramount.

Supporting Artemis and Golden Dome

Beyond SDA, Innoflight's technology is involved in NASA's Artemis lunar program. Janicik discussed the company's contributions to the communications and navigation systems that will support operations around the Moon. The deep-space environment presents unique hurdles for radiation-hardened electronics.

The interview also touched on the Golden Dome project.
