HyImpulse Technologies has raised more than €50 million in equity through a Series A extension, bringing its total equity and public funding to over €125 million. The round was co-led by JOIN Capital and Ace Capital Partners, with new investors including North Ventures, BW-Capital, Bayern Kapital and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). Existing shareholders such as Campus Founders Ventures also continued their support.

The funding will accelerate the market rollout of HyImpulse’s suborbital SR75 and orbital SL1 launch platforms. This includes preparing for the second flight of the SR75 from SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland during the second half of 2026 and conducting the maiden flight of the SL1 vehicle. Capital will also be used to expand production capacity and support growth in tailored satellite launch services, in-space mobility, and suborbital research and defence applications.

HyImpulse reports an order book exceeding €350 million across its suborbital and orbital business lines, backed by a growing international customer base. The company cites projections that the global commercial launch market could reach approximately $32 billion by 2035.

Dr Christian Schmierer, co-founder and CEO of HyImpulse, stated that the financing reflects investor confidence in the company’s team, technology and growth trajectory. He emphasized Europe’s need for sovereign, flexible and economically viable launch capacity, noting that HyImpulse’s hybrid propulsion system and dual suborbital-orbital offering position it well to meet rising demand from commercial, institutional and defence customers.

The company’s proprietary hybrid propulsion uses non-explosive paraffin fuel combined with liquid oxygen, which HyImpulse describes as a safer, more cost-efficient and scalable alternative to traditional kerosene-based systems. It claims lower complexity and fewer components enable safer, more flexible launches at reduced cost.

The SR75 is already a commercial suborbital platform, having completed its first flight from the Koonibba Test Range in South Australia in 2024. The vehicle is now being prepared for its next launch from SaxaVord in Scotland. Separately, HyImpulse is developing a portfolio of suborbital flight systems designed for hypersonic and long-range profiles, targeting speeds up to Mach 15 and distances of up to 10,000 kilometres for government, research and defence clients interested in hypersonic testing, threat simulation and suborbital flight services.

JOIN Capital founding partner Jan Borgstädt said Europe needs launch economics that work, highlighting HyImpulse’s leaner architecture with roughly half the parts, substantially lower cost per kilogram of payload and significantly reduced capital required to reach orbital capability. He noted the company has already proven its technology in flight.

Shimon Tsentsiper of Ace Capital Partners said the team has achieved significant milestones despite limited resources and pointed to strong demand in today’s launch market, especially for low-cost dedicated launch services.

HyImpulse frames the funding round in the context of geopolitical pressures and increasing defence demand, positioning itself as a contributor to independent and resilient access to space for Europe and NATO through responsive launch capabilities.
