HyImpulse raises €50M for rocket development
German launch provider HyImpulse has extended its Series A funding round by €50 million, bringing total funding to €125 million.
German launch services provider HyImpulse announced on 2 September 2026 that it had extended its Series A funding round by more than €50 million. This brings the company's total funding to date to €125 million.
HyImpulse is currently preparing for the second flight of its suborbital SR75 rocket and the inaugural launch attempt of its larger SL1 orbital vehicle. The new funding will be used to accelerate development and commercialization of its launch services portfolio, according to the company.
Funding Details
The €50 million extension was co-led by German early-stage venture capital firm JOIN Capital and Israeli aerospace and defence investor Ace Capital Partners. Neither firm participated in HyImpulse's initial €15 million Series A raise, which was announced in October 2025.
With this latest raise, HyImpulse has now secured more than €65 million in Series A equity funding specifically. Company CEO Christian Schmierer stated the capital would accelerate the commercialization of its orbital rocket. "While providers such as SpaceX offer a scheduled bus service to space, our solutions allow us to develop a flexible taxi service," Schmierer said.
HyImpulse claims it is positioning itself to meet a growing demand for independent launch capabilities. The company says it has already secured an order book exceeding €350 million across its suborbital and orbital programmes.
Launch Vehicle Roadmap
The company's current focus is on two rockets: the suborbital SR75 and the orbital SL1.

HyImpulse has launched its SR75 rocket once before. That inaugural flight took place from the Koonibba Test Range in South Australia in May 2024. The company is now preparing for the rocket's second flight, which will be conducted from SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland before the end of 2026.
While the 2 September announcement did not detail the nature of the upcoming SR75 flight, HyImpulse said in October 2025 that it would be the vehicle's first commercial launch carrying customer payloads.
Accelerating Orbital Ambitions
Parallel to the SR75 campaign, HyImpulse is developing its three-stage SL1 rocket for orbital missions. The SL1 is designed to carry payloads of up to 600 kilograms to low Earth orbit.
The company had previously stated the SL1's inaugural flight would occur in 2027. Its latest funding announcement did not provide a new target date, saying only that the new capital would help accelerate preparations for the flight. The funding injection aims to make Europe more independent and competitive in the launch sector, according to CEO Schmierer.
The second SR75 flight from Scotland represents a key step before the orbital debut of the larger SL1 vehicle.
